The all-important fact in the situation is this; any time the college professors of America get ready to take control of their own destinies, and of the intellectual life of their institutions, they can do it. There is not a college or university in the United States today which could resist the demands of its faculty a hundred percent organized and meaning business. -- Upton Sinclair

This year's annual meeting -- Envisioning Participatory Governance in a Contingent & Corporatized Academy -- was a gathering of important resources and discussions concerning how we can organize to include the voice of all faculty in university policy making, decisions, and activities.

We have gathered a selection of the resources that came out of this meeting and have listed them, along with other useful organizing resources, on our organizing toolkit page.

Who We Are

The California Conference of the American Association of University Professors (CA-AAUP) promotes the interests of higher education and scholarly research by defending academic freedom, shared governance, and the welfare of California's faculty members.

The AAUP has members at more than 130 universities and colleges in California. Through our chapter service programs, we provide faculty members with the support and assistance they need to represent themselves effectively.
